Mahe Ramadhan- Day 21 & 22

Because the two words and activities were so related I am posting them together!

The days words were Layl- Day and Nahaar- Night.

We talked about the different things we see and do during the different times of the day/night.

Our activity included looking at pictures and sorting them into things we do or see during the day vs during the night. Relating pictures to an event. As it was our first time doing this type of sorting I gave him two choices at a time. H then got to use the glue stick (which was probably the post exciting part of the activity or him) and stick them onto the paper.

Mahe Ramadhan- Day 19

Todays word is Fakiha – Fruit

We decided to do something a little different today, we cut fresh fruit (i let my 3-year old use a knife!) and made containers for family to eat during their iftar. With a little note on top of the container stating why they were receiving the fruit 🙂

We used a lot of fine motor skills in cutting as well as some gross motor (muscle) we also practiced our one-to-one counting as we put a certain number of cherries into each container!

Play doh!

Play doh is a wonderful activity that keeps my LO busy for hours! They use many skills including  fine motor, imaginative, story telling, and more. Each time we take out play doh we try and switch up the toys or materials alongside it. Some days it is all open ended recyclable materials while other days it is just some random character or people toys from the play room. Today, we added some cars/trucks.. of course it was a hit! but it was amazing to hear the story telling and character building through imaginative play that was happening!

Mahe Ramadhan- Day 17

Todays word was ardh.. earth!

We talked about how we live on the earth and found Ontario on a globe.. it was a tricky concept!

Since my 1 year old was awake for the activity today we had to adjust it so that they could both do an activity that was age appropriate. For the 3-year old we painted a styrofoam ball in blue and green and for the 1-year old we did some mess free finger painting (in a ziplock bag) using the same colours.

Mahe Ramadhan- Day 14

Todays word was ibil… Camel

We read the Qur’anic verse and talked about who created camels.

I printed a picture off the internet and made a puzzle for my LO to complete. As I cut out the outline I had a piece of card stock behind it so it would be cut into the same shape as the outline. This would end up being the base of the puzzle. Then I cut the camel into puzzle pieces and made the puzzle so that my LO could match up the pieces onto the card stock outline.

Mahe Ramadhan- Day 13

Yesterdays word was Sam’a.. SKY.

Some of the probing questions I was able to ask my LO were:

  • What colour is the sky?
  • where is the sky?
  • who put it there?
  • what else do you see in the sky?

Getting him to observe and think about what he sees lead to a great discussion!

We worked with cotton balls to make a sky scape. (fine motor skills as well as pincer grip to spread the glue and a different texture for sure!)
